A renowned Pakistan novelist has written: “Lahore as a city inspires the art in all their forms.” I would say, GCU is that unique educational institution of Lahore which inspires the arts and all other kinds of creative activities in their best forms. It is an institution that has inspired great persons like Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Maulana Muhammad Hussain Azad, GD Sondhi, A.S. Bokhari (Patras), Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum, N.M. Rashid, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Dr. Abdus Salam and Dr. Hargobind Khorana, (the two Ravian Nobel Laureates), Ishfaq Ahmad, Samar Mubarakmand, and many others to write, create knowledge and develop innovative concepts and ideas for over 146 years. It still continues to do so.
The creations of Ravians are superbly inspiring and infinitely beautiful, and like all beautiful things, their loveliness keeps increasing. All that is eternally beautiful comes alive in the spring season on the GCU campus: flowers, plants, birds, colours, the whole ambiance is painted afresh by Nature. It is an unmatched spectacle to be enjoyed by all. Its allure is so strong that it is almost impossible to resist the temptation to revisit the campus.
This makes it an ideal time to arrange reunion of the Ravians and like the previous years the ORU has again invited them to share Happy time together. I wish everybody a very pleasant evening on this occasion.
